Waiting on a Whites Eagle Spectrum

Waiting on a Whites Eagle Spectrum. I have a Garrett Ace 350 and this is a great coin detector. My feeling is the Whites line of detectors are a better choice for finding gold. I have found gold with the garret but I don't believe this is a great choice for a all around machine. The Whites Eagle Spectrum appears to be one of Whites most popular mid grade metal detectors. If any of you have one of had one and have a good story would love to hear it. Thanks George

Hey Broadestpower,

I had a Eagle Spectrum, It was my first coin machine and it had great pin point and id for its time and is still a good machine. But if your looking for gold with it I believe they have a DD coil for it now or at least for the 6.59KHZ machines. you will have a much better chance at bracelets or chains with the smaller dd coil. I had the blue max 8'' on mine and it had a hard time with chains and bracelet. One great thing about it is the program-ability, there are some pretty good on line programs available a couple I liked for my type of hunting was from Bob Baileys web site http://vzone.virgin.net/bob.bailey/EXD/exd.html. go to detector settings it will familiarize you with how the machine acts. There's other good info on this site as well you might want to check it out. Also http://66.51.97.78/jb/gregm.html. That should keep you busy for a day or two..:beers:

No doubt ... the old Eagle Spectrum is still a great machine......:detecting:

My dad has been using his for over 20 years. It still runs like a champ and is one of the best mid-level mds from the 1990s, maybe ever. HH

My first detector, and if I hadn't turned into an old fart, and gotten out of shape, probably would still be using it for my dirt detecting. I switched to the AT Pro, for the lighter weight. Still my favorite, just seemed to look like a detector should. I've only found two large cents, and the Spectrum found both of them. Artie

Thank you for all the good information it's most appreciated. I have to say I couldn't of had a better hunt for the first outing. I had a busy weekend the detector came on Friday but, I didn't get out until today. Second dig was a sterling ring sixth was a silver ring I found more silver rings in this outing then I had all season with the Ace 350. Good stuff I'm looking forward to the next hunt already.

Thanks for your post.Yeah I am already impressed with this detector it had no problem finding two sterling rings. One ring was my second dig the second ring was my sixth dig. I was wondering what was coming next lol.
