Waiting for the Small Imaging Coil / DD???

I understand they can't fit the imaging guts in one...
 
An imaging searchcoil works by having a transmiting coil and two receptor coils. The imaging detector uses the difference in signals between the two receptor coils to calculate true depth and size. For this to work well, the two receptor coils can't be close to each other; i.e. one has to be significantly larger than the other. In a small searchcoil, there just isn't room to get that degree of separation between the two receptor coils. HB
 
You could be waiting a long time as it's tough to fit one transmitter and two receiving coils into a small coil.
