Waited Long Enough---not a Caz -----But, it's a

Tesoro..............LOL

Tesoros are still one of my favorite beep and dig machines and you just have to have one in your arsenal.
Now I am really happy with my AKA Berkut 5 and probably the best ID machine I ever used but, when you want something simple
and just pure fun to use you need a Tesoro. I forgot how much fun they are and how great they are at finding Canadian clad, until I picked up a Silver Sabre Umax
for a friend, the one I almost decided not to sell him. Hey, he's having a blast with it.

Ended up grabbing a pristine Bandido II umax. It's a beauty. Surprised no one grabbed it, price was really reasonable, it sat listed for 2 weeks..........it's mine now. It will be here in a week.

Still open to the Caz whenever it makes its debut.

Hello Sven

Pleased to see you have a new machine coming. I am interested in your view of the pros and cons of the Bandito II uMax compared to the Vaquero and Tejon for the sort of detecting you do?

Sven, well done on your new machine, what size coil does it come with the 8'' polo or some other size ??

Congrats! I pulled the plug on a Bounty Hunter! No waiting here, either!

LOL, I need to get one for my wife. All she wants and needs is a Tracker IV, due to health problems....it's perfect.

Has the round chocolate donut coil. Like the spoked or a white powdered donut. But, it will do.

One just may come your way again........when you least expect it.............there's one out there with your name on it.

It arrived, wow does it look like new.
Powered it up, it sucks.
Performance worse about 1/2 of that of a Compadre and doesn't seem to function properly.
Would like to keep it, if I can get compensation for sending it to Tesoro and having it fixed.
Or just return it for a refund. Waiting on sellers response.
Now I know why the sellers wife didn't like using it and opted for a Silver Umax................

Shucks was hoping to get a good hunt in with it over the weekend.

Buying used is always a gamble . If something is about to go wrong with a unit sometimes the rigors of shipping can put it over the edge . Of course buying something new can be a gamble also . Good luck with that Sven .

Sven what seems to be the problems you are seeing with it . Had one before and wished I had never sold it mine was a lot easier to ground balance than my Tejon for sure

Sven, did you find out what the problem was with the Detector ??? or was you able to get a refund ???

Seller will not respond to forum PM or emails at this point. Seller is not a member of this forum. If the seller wasn't 2000 miles away, I'd take a drive over.
I am now figuring something was wrong with it as the faceplate screws were not screwed down all the way. Leads me to believe someone looked inside to see what the problem is.
I looked inside and can't see anything and there's no trimpots on the board for some one to mis adjust.

I do see a chinsy 25 cent trimpot with a shaft was used for the threshold control and a knob placed on it. Trimpots don't last for many adjustments. The plastic shaft is very wobbly.

Target response is weak, lucky if it picks up a $1 coin at 5". ..................anyone who has used a manual GB Tesoro and know how to use a Tesoro will tell right away. Something is not right.

It's probably going back to Tesoro....................as it looks like I am stuck with it.

 I have an older Compadre, a Silver Sabre uMax and a Golden. I bought all 3 off of Ebay and all of them did not function properly. After sending them in for service they are all running really great.
The Silver and Golden were serviced before the new stricter repair policy. I paid the 50 bucks to get the Compadre serviced. The Golden had to be sent back 4 times in all. I am very pleased with the way they are operating now but if you are in the market to buy I would suggest buying new models if possible. I won't sell these right now so please don't ask. Happy Hunting :tesoro::detecting:

Took a real good look at everything and hauled out the multimeter.
Replaced the cheapo threshold pot with a waterproof precision RV6 Russian Military pot.
Found the disc pot was loose and not grounding properly to the faceplate.
Put it all back together, took it outside in the back yard for a test.
Works fine now. Won't have to send it back to Tesoro.
Finally added some o-rings under the knobs to create just a bit of resistance on all but the disc pot.

Glad to hear it Sven , Guess I am going to have to send my Tejon in having GB issues with it

Nice going on fixing your Bandido. I wish I had you your talent when it comes to fixing electronics.
