wait for the beep or

bowser

this may become a very dumb question but here goes when using the mxt i found myself lookin at the screen and waitin for a beep what is the correct way to detect. i use a silent search detector as a rule.

I rarely watch the screen. With the headphones, I listen to those special beeps and if it's a deep tone, I will look at it because of curiosity before digging. The correct way to detect? The way you're comfortable with. :detecting: HH, Nancy

thanks Nancy i knew there weren't going to be very many replies ,however after using an idx pro for 6 years it is definetley a change for me ,sometimes the machine makes noises that are akin to a dying canadian goose or at least a constipated one Relic Mode especially.congrats on your find and all the best JIM

I've found it worthwhile to learn and listen to the tones, then use the display to help my decision to dig or not. I do a better job of swinging and ground covering by ignoring the display until needed. This comes easy as I hunted for years with a "beep and dig" only machine.

I listen for the faint beeps when relic hunting, everything I have found relic wise has been from those deep faint signals.
