W for Winchester

Went out for a couple hours today to hit a lot that had been cleaned last fall. A friend had found a few Wheaties & a 47 dime on the lot just the other day so I didn't think I would come up with much. I had found a few newer coins then got a solid 47 on the MXT. Down about 6" out popped a button looking thing, I didn't think much of it & kept on hunting. Got home for lunch and started to clean up the button to see what it was and here it is. I am guessing a cuff link but not sure, on the back the words Paten Dec. 2nd 8 the outer ring looks like brass but the W looks gold to me, anyone out there seen one of these, if so what is it.

Bula, that's a really cool find. I can't wait to see if someone knows any more about it. It's a beauty. You're doing great. Keep it up. See what your winning guess started! OH YA and it's only February!
HH to all, Nancy

Nancy, I have not counted yet but I think Im over my last year coin total all ready.

Keep it going and we'll all be on the edge or our seats to see what all you find and the total count for the year. Do you realize how much this tickles me? WOW!!! It's so wonderful to see others hunting and gaining ground. HH to you and to all, Nancy

I was able to get some help with the ID of this and it turns out to be a cufflink from 1884, now I will have to do some research on the lot where it was found & see if there was anyone who's last name started with W.
