VX3 Recovery setting from factory. I did not want to high jack anymore than I did on former post below

Why is it so slow on recovery out of the box..Or is that just a generic starting point setting ????

It seems to me I am almost 8" past the target before the machine beeps. ( Maybe less lol) seems like it though. Is that operator error , or slow processing of the target ????

I can say this about the VX3..The depth meter is very accurate and the Target ID is very good .... it's pretty much right on in fact.

Howdy Elton--

The V's need to fine tuned to YOUR hunting style and ground (and they CAN be). Maybe try a Recovery Delay setting of 40-50? Best of luck and...

I thought that might be the case........... Where would the factory set Delay excel in usage ?? Or would it ??

It seems to me you would miss many targets just by the fact you would not hear them as you detected..or it would confuse you since your past the actual space occupied in the ground by the reported target.

Has Whites changed their recommended swing speed with these new V machines ???.

Howdy Elton--

I think that slow recovery (higher #'s) for relic hunting on clean ground might be a good place to use the pre-set or higher RD. But even when I'm hunting on my "Old Texas Trail" I seldom go higher than 65 for the same reasons that you pointed out. For city vacant lots, old home sites, I'm closer to 40 RD.

My guess as to why the pre-set RD setting is so high is that since the V series of detectors is to be customized for personal style and specific hunting applications that Whites figured the high RD setting would be a good starting point. That's the only reason that I come up with hahahahha. Best of luck and...

Elton, I forgot to mention on my previous post a suggestion: use your normal sweep speed and then adjust RD and Filters to your likeing. Put 2 coins on the ground, a coil width apart and sweep and adjust untill you hear both signals. That should get you where you want to be. Best of luck and...

Hello Elton, Giving the VX3 another go?. A recovrry speed of 35is about as fast of a recovery speed i could run without clipping the audio.about as fast as an MXT.Also you might want to change the ground filter to 12.5 to allow a faster sweep speed if you are cominng from a brand F****R detector background. Granted I did not give the V3i a fair chance.. It just did not seem to work all that well when I got it.

The VX3 is stable.deep.and operates as I would expect it to. I'm just trying to learn how to fine tune it before hitting the detecting fields.

I have not used it yet in real world detecting.
