VX3 Lessons learned

Just got the new VX3 and thought I would share a few lessons learned that may help a new user. When doing air tests in coin mode I found that a newer penny was being disc'd out so I had to go into the VDI menu and edit to accept the value that my penny was giving.

-Make sure you air test targets so you know your machine is set up properly.
-Reducing recovery delay will allow you to sweep your coil a bit faster I prefer about 50, this way the detector won't be so slow to return to it's baseline so it can pick up the target much quicker on the return sweep (right to left etc.).
-ground balancing is a must
-2.5KHz doesn't do so well on nickles so if you're in deep silver mode you may miss nickles
-Hi Pro mode with a RX Gain setting of 13 air tested a dime at 10" penny at 11" quarter at 12" nickle at 9" . Impressive

I will post more when I get some more time in on the detector. So far I love it but at first it scared me a little until I trusted my gut and edited the VDI disc. I did notice however that an older wheat penny read in the normal range. I would love to hear from other users about their successful programs that they like to use.

Thanks!

well I took the VX3 to the beach today and I'm very impressed. I was pulling up very very deep coins and compared target readings to my Fisher before I dug and it couldn't even pick up some of the targets that the VX3 was slamming loudly on. Also I was picking up very tiny bits of aluminum so I know I will not miss rings. Found a gold watch and multiple clad coins including small pieces of pennies that had since biodegraded. This detector is very sensitive and operates smooth and quiet on the beach. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Glad you are happy with the detector. Happy hunting.
