VX3 and BCR

Thound

New member
Does the VX3 have some way of not seeing crown caps. The reason is because yesterday I hit the beach with the VX3 with 6X10 DD (new toy syndrome) and have NEVER! dug so many crown caps.I always use the 950 here and very seldom dig crowns It just seems like the VX3 w 950 has a way of ignoring crowns because I don't discriminate anything above -95 but yet seldom hear a crown. Thanks and happy Easter.HH Oh yeah, I know the V3I has BCR but what about the VX3?

Thanks Larry I was interested in the answer too..

Crown caps are easy, they will show 22.5 dominate, sometimes 7.5 on pinpoint. If it was quarter under the coil, it will show 2.5 dominate. Never dig a crown cap again unless you wanted to. As you gain more experience, the crown caps have a "dirtier" and stronger audio as well, you will just know by the audio in time.

Thanks Larry I've noticed what you are sayin. It just seems like the 6X10 is a whole lot better than the 950 at finding the little devils and if that's the case the 6X10 would be better at finding jewlery in the same range unless I'm missing something here.

You are 100% correct. That is one of the faults with the DD/SEF style coils, by design, they really love the bottle caps. Conical coils are much better in that respect.

Yes the 6X10 has better separation than the larger coils and is very good for small targets.

Thanks Larry . My mind is at rest. But not for long.

I love that pinpoint feature with the Vx3....just look for the dominate 2.5 freq. unless you have a potential gold hit...

I'm a jewelery hunter but dig clad bacause it may be jewelery. Heres's my findings so far. VDI-83, 22.5 dom. always a crown . VDI -83 2.5 dom. always a quater. And then it gets harder. The mens silver and gold wedding band I found last week was VDI-83 with freqs. nearly aligned Thought quarter. Large 14K ring last month was VDI-58 with freqs. nearly aligned. Thought penny. Ladies 14K ring found in Nov. was VDI-20 freqs nearl aligned. Thought nickle. Then some crowns have varying VDI. with 22.5 and 7,5 about the same with 2.5 lagging. The more I learn the more I undderstand that I don't know much yet.But it does seem gold rings hit on all 3 freqs very closely. So I've got a lot more diggin to do.. HH
