Vista X Observations...

The first thing that I did was look over the Vista X with the idea of comparing it to previous DT machines. Immediately, the coil stands out because of it's shape. I weighed it and the Bull Dog coil and the new coil is almost 2 oz. lighter.
(After using it for an hour or so, it seems to have an slight edge on the BD on depth and seperation)
Both middle and lower rods are now carbon fiber with adjustable clamps on the upper and lower end of the middle rod. This allows better adjustments on length for each person.
The headphone jack is now on the back of the battery compartment instead of the control box..... Good move.
Control box housing is built extremely well with all the knobs being tight and high quality.
The batteries are now accessed thru the back of the battery box. Prior detectors required taking off ( small screw) the bottom of the case and replacing the batteries,.
On and off switch has been moved to the back of the battery box ... another good move.

New schools, playgrounds, doesn't matter, this machine will work.

BTW, If you want to dig everything other than iron, the Warrior and Smart Plus still deserve your consideration. I have had exceptionally good success with the Smart Plus. After working with it
for a long time, the audio has certain nuances that allow you to know that there is a good target under a nail, pc. of wire. Sometimes there is a well-defined high tone with a low tone.. dig it !!! . HH Richard

Nice post Richard :)

I received my Vista x yesterday. I was able to go to a park after work and hunt for about 2 hours in an area that I had already hunted before many times. I found several coins but nothing really deep yet. After I got it home I realized that I needed to change some settings. If you are a coin Hunter I found that it's best to set your Main discrimination to about 33 and the alternate to 40. Separates pull tabs from coins really well even though they are both hi tones. Just use your alternate discrimination to check those hi tones. I tested it in my yard on a 10 inch dime and it nailed it. I raise the core about 2 inches off the ground and it still hit it. My v3i with the d-tech 13 inch coil would not hit it. After doing some tests in the yard I'm confident I will have success on the deep coins with the Vista x

Derwood, when you discriminate out the tabs, do you loose the nickels & gold too ?

Nice run down Richard!!

That coil you will find is something special..

Especially in the nose and rear for separating like a little coil but in the middle its VERY deep!
