Visited Tesoro

Just returned from a 10 day trip from N Idaho clear south to Mexico. Didn't get to do a lot of detecting unfortunately, but did get a chance to stop at the Tesoro plant in Prescott Arizona on our way back north. I dropped off a Treasure Mate pinpointer that had a defective tuning knob and they had it fixed, no charge, before we left. Got to meet Robert (allcav) and Rusty Henry. Really nice folks. Talked detecting a bit and I tried to pry any info I could about new releases, but all I got was a smile and the comment - "there's a lot of pressure on us to do that." I did learn that they've had major problems with their server and and are hoping to get the website back up soon and then re-do their forum. Rusty mentioned they've seen an increased interest by quite a few detectorists who are considering coming back to beep and dig machines from tid machines as the display makes them pass too many potentially good targets. I have to watch that myself. All in all, a good visit.

Hope you had a good time on your trip Bill, I would give an eye tooth to visit the Tesoro factory and meet all the folks there. If someone came up to me and said hey Steve here is a blank check and I want to do your farm work for a week go and do whatever ya want, I would be on my way to Prescott,Arizona quicker than the blink of an eye.

Thanks Bill for the story,

Maybe someday I'll get to swing by there, sure would be interesting, I wonder how James Gifford is doing.

May just be the deciding factor to not make a high end display Tesoro.........

I for one would like to see that Digital detector with big screen, and bells and whistles.....

Florida beaches, Hawaii, St Thomas Island.....hmmmmmmmmmm ............. Tesoro Plant ???? :help::poke:

I have had a day and a half off in 3 years and that was only because I had to go to my wife's brother wedding. Couldn't imagine what a 5 day/week job would be like, you'all that get two days off a week are lucky. And yup I would rather visit the Tesoro factory than go to some island, beach, etc.

If I lived closer I swear I'd help you out so you could visit them.. Hope you get there one day soon..

You don't get a lot of detecting time do you ??... Are you a dairy Farmer ..... ???????

WHY?

el! i don't think you are going to see another (t.i.d.) from them
because ''jack gifford" knew that "audio" is more accurate than video,
especially at depth.it is why it took them so long to develop a (t.i.d.)
in the first place!..they really don't believe in the technology,
and quite frankly who can argue with their success over the years,
especially with the u-max series of detectors!..just sayin'

yes! a "class company" to be sure!
fun detectors,well built,outrageous customer service,
and very nice people too!..just sayin'

I bet I could find you a pair of barn boots that would fit ya Elton ;). Maybe some day I will have some spare time & a few extra $$$. I hunt as often as I can, I might not get days off but I don't have to punch a clock and can go detecting in between chores, etc. Yes I am a dairy farmer. I know you'd give me a hand on the farm if you were closer Elton, thanks.

And just for the record..It wasn't for pay either... Up at daylight, and work till after dark most days..... He was a Plant farmer..with a few head of cattle.. Lots of Hay to harvest..

So my friend I know what you do requires time, and hard work..

I have learned to like a display. Always liked the way a Tesoro hit Jewelery. So would like to use one that I could see readout and make some tweaks...

Yep..Your right, but I think it would be a good one if they really worked on perfecting it.

Sounds like you had a great trip Bill,I hope they do stay with the Beep and Dig Detectors, How about another Tejon, say a Tejon II with a precise ground balance and a two tone ferrous mode. Some other extras like Splash Proof,Have a number gauge,to show the ground minerals your searching in,so you can adjust your ground balance according to what you encounter.I Have been Relic hunting for 20 years and these type of detectors have always worked best for me.
C"mon Tesoro you can build it .
