Vision first hunt and some thoughts

Jason in TN

New member
Got out for a little relic hunting this weekend here in the mountains of East Tennessee. The spot I hunted had a electric fence that is hot hot hot. It will drive you crazy with most detectors. The F75 I had was unusable there. It has also been hunted to death for the past five years. Set the Vision on relic mode and as it was getting a good bit of interference hunted like that for a bit and decided to see what could be done to settle it down a bit. Played with sensitivity a bit but still had some noise. Then remembering days with the DFX I decided to play with correlate instead of best data in the freq settings. This helped a bunch a quick lowering of the span limit and it was running dead quite. Then it was off to hunt. Did get two bullets and could hit any target my buddy with the super 12 and the MXT could hit. I was running the stock DD 10 coil. I want a bigger DD may go with the 12x15 SEF. Had a good time and am still learning this detector. most of all I am having fun.

My first thoughts
Wow alot of things can be adjusted not sure which will work best in my area but I am working on it. The filters are new to me and I played with them a bit with in ground targets changing them on the fly to see how the signal responds. Seemed in relic mode the factory setting seemed to work best but i wondered if i changed some other stuff such as recover speed if that would change. The Vision is really fun to hunt with. Color screen is cool buttons glow in low light and are easy to see. My favorite part the wire less headphones never realized what a pain in the A#$$ that wire was. I have no problem with the volume levels I hunt with most of my detector volumes maxed as I did alot of shooting and must be about half deaf. Also have a spot that has a huge amount of Iron trash and need to find the best settings to work this area. Any one have some Ideas on this?

Thanks
Jason

As for the iron, why not give the iron a low tone and everything else a high tone? Then open up the disc all the way and go slooooow.

That way you can cherry pick some iron laden sites. I do it similar with me DFX, only I can't adjust tones.

Will give that a try. Wondering if i need to adjust some other stuff too. Ground filters and recovery?

thanks

That's the kind of info I'm looking for. I read in the book about the Best Data and Correlate, but it does not explain any situations, type of hunting or conditions where something like this should be used. Or it's better to say that I didn't understand it.
