Virus on my CTX-3030 disk???

Morris Digger

New member
I just purchased a Minelab CTX-3030.

I am trying to install the software but my virus protection says there is a virus in the setup.exe file.

This disk I am using says Release 4.

My virus software is Bitdefender Total Security 2013.

I'm really hoping it's just a false positive. Does anybody know?

I have attached a screen shot from the virus scanner.

Thanks!!!

it is not the disk. It is your virus protection not playing nice with the minelab program. I think many people have had this issue, Just disable the virus program. run the minelab program, then restart the virus software. I'm sure others will chime in and I am quite sure it has been discussed here in the past.

OK... So I disabled the antivirus software. I tried installing the Minelab software
and it keeps failing. Now it has jacked up my Internet Explorer.

I've had enough. Going to bed.

I welcome any suggestions.

Thanks!!!!

I had similar issue with Norton's. Had to make AV software ignore it but it took several tries. Didn't "jack up" my browser though. Not sure what happened there but the AV treats the setup.exe as a threat, haven't had that happen with a disk before. You should be able to do as already suggested and disable your virus program, if you don't feel safe then disconnect from the internet then disable av then install your ml software. GL

Im guessing you are trying to install Xchange 2. I recently had to replace the hard drive on my laptop so I had to reinstall Xchange 2. I did this directly from Minelabs website and it work perfect. Maybe try to install it that way. Good luck.

I had the same error message on my BitDefender a year ago. Even after I had turned off BitDefender and downloaded the file, it showed up as a virus in the virus scan. The problem turned out to be a False Positive due to the random 4 digit number 2211 associated with Gen:Variant.Barys. (apparently BitDefender thinks all strings should be 3 digits).

To get it past BitDefender, I went into BitDefender's Antivirus Settings......Exclusions...turned ON Exclusions for Files, and added the file name for the XChange2 file to both the BitDefender Excluded files and folders, and Excluded processes. HH Randy

I had the same problem. Disregard the disk and go to minelab.com and download exchange two from them and you won't have any problems. That is what I did and it worked great. Besides the disk has not been updated while the one on their site has been updated.

I finally got the software to install by turning off the antivirus and excluding the offending file.

I think I have also fixed the Internet Explorer issue.

Now I can't get the computer to recognize the detector when plugged in.
I have created a new topic for this.

Thanks!!!
