Virginia Beach: Lost Ring Alert...REWARD! 3 Carat Amethyst

I met a lady on the beach today that said she had lost a ring while in the water in the vicinity of the King Neptune statue...around 31st street. She said it's a 10K gold ring with a 3 carat marquis-cut amethyst stone and diamonds on the side. It's more of sentimental value than monetary and it's being passed through the family so she really wants to get it back and is willing to pay a reward. I told her I would post this here and that she should also place an ad in the Virginian Pilot and that I thought her chances would be pretty good of getting it back as most of our surf pirates here are of a benevolent nature.

If anybody has found this ring or should happen to find it, I have her phone number and will provide it if needed.

Boy, you guys there are the best of the best !!! Glad to see honesty and honor is still in some of our vocabularies. Can't wait to see the posts after the holiday !!!! There should be some GOOD pickins comin our way !!! HH to all.

Well, it remains to be seen if anybody will return it. Not everybody would. After all, none of us bought our metal detectors to go out and find other peoples stuff and give it back to them. But on the other hand, if a specific request is made or an ad is placed and it's clearly the rightful owner, I will opt to give it back. And in the case of class rings, actively attempt to return it.

if I have a ring or piece of jewelry and someone can prove ownership, it goes home. 98% of what I have found has been a keeper. I have found a few diamond rings on the beach, with the owner down there looking with me, found it and returned it. Most people figure, if llost out in the water, it's gone forever and just leave the beach. If people would just engrave their jewelry with a phone number, SSN, something, more would graciously be returned.
