I've done some looking but I don't see any instructions available for it on the Garrett web site.
I believe that is one of the old BFO type metal detectors.

I have a couple of old Garrett BFO metal detectors. They're fun to play around with sometimes. The sounds that they make really scare the cats!
Oh yeah! They are really great for searching for black sand(magnetite)which is often associated with naturally occuring placer gold.
