vintage arabic script gold ring found

Howdy all... I got together with a buddy today for a nice little hunt in the old section of Pensacola... old place gave up a 1916 wheatie...it was deep, had to use the 12" coil on the MXT Pro...bumped into a fellow md'er...he told of of his local finds and we shifted areas...and lo and behold I find a nice small gold ring...what looks to be a gold ring with arabic writing...has a small makers mark of .875 (21k 3.7g) with two other marks, to small to see.....lots of junk in this area and a few coins...enjoy...the ring was crushed kinda, I used a ring mandrel to bring her back to round...kinda small, might be a kids or ???...Anyone know of where I might be able to have some one tell me what this says...??? Thanks

While researching this ring, I realized there are no arabic speakers near me to my knowledge...so I used the power of the internet...I found a jewelery business in the UK, that makes arabic style jewelry and e-mailed them...here is the reply...

Thank you for contacting us, the rings inscription reads:"Lelaha Ela Allah Mohammedan (should be Moahmmedon) Rasoul Allah"
There is a small grammatical error as shown above. The meaning of this is a declaration that "There is no God except Allah, and Mohammed is his messenger" Hope this helps.

Now the last mystery remains, how old is it...??? To be determined once I get a digital microscope and research the last two hallmarks. I hope this find (well the message anyway) is not offensive in nature to anyone, I'm a Cristian myself and will honor the fact that this belief belongs to another religion, plain and simple. Lastly I find it kind of funny that the grammar was incorrect per the translation...I'd be mad if I bought this originally only to find out someone couldn't spell...(hehehe)

goldgeo2011...the ring was found in my first 15 minutes of md'ing that day...didnt realize what I had at first as it was crushed and looked fake, so I dug a lot of junk & pull tab signals...

Gogoggopher...yea I got one off of flebay...a metal 'ring mandrel'...and used a craftsman rubber mallet and wa-la...it was crushed almost 100% in half...

Good news...well good lead anyway...I got a reply from the local historic preservation council,. they suggested I contact Garth's Antiques in Pensacola (also a auction gallery)...they have a one day a month where they do FREE walk in appraisals on the last Tuesday of the month...so guess where I will be on Nov 29th at 0930...

875 or 875/1000 is an indication of 21k gold or 87.5 % gold. Weigh your ring and multiply its weight by 87.5 and you will have the weight of the gold you have. Idigid
