If you're a T2 owner now's the time to avert your eyes, read no further, least your sensibilities be offended.
Last weekend being the last chance for the Treasure Barge to set sail in search of freshwater booty, I was accompanied by the First Mate(Barnacle Jr-4th grader) on an adventure to a familiar haunt. Because of some frosty nights the ambient water temp is now below 60F, and therefore I had brought along the 1/4 inch wet suit to do some shoulder depth wading. I had planned for the First Mate to stay in the shallows with a nice shiny TID machine and pluck clad from the water's edge.
Arriving at the anchorage I said OK First Mate you're going to be to be using the nice shiny TID machine and I'll be using the brown machine(CZ20). His reply was that "gee you know I'm afraid of dropping the shiny TID machine in the water, so I would like to use the brown machine(CZ20)". Hmmm I said, you know I'll put the forearm band around your arm on the shiny TID machine and you should be fine. He was having none of it, expressing that I would never forgive him if he dropped the shiny TID in the water....dang kids *^0#*^...who taught you to be logical???? Don't answer that.....dang kids.....
So there I am, adjusted the hip mount strap on the First Mate and get him all outfitted, and down the ladder into the water he goes. And meanwhile I chose another HF land machine to hunt for low conductors in the shallows, since the CZ20 was the only water machine I brought. I'm still gearing up when the First Mate calls out that he's located a target. Good I think to myself he's finding items, and I can hunt in peace. "It's a penny he says", that's nice I reply. "Yeah he says a wheat penny", what? Did you say wheat penny? "Yep, he replies, a 1935".
Whereupon I came down with a case of the mumbles,...dang kids..... my CZ20.... first target a wheat penny.... I outta slap that boy's mother when I get home for having him. And of course after a half hour or so he got bored and quit hunting. Meanwhile I thrashed the water to a foam for hours trying to come up with a better find. It was not to be, the First Mate put a whuppin' on the OM with the first target.
