VIDEO: Garrett Scorpion vs Garrett AT Pro on a .1 Gram Gold Nugget.

The basis of this video test is to show how hot ground will effect how the these detectors detect an item just sitting on top of hot ground, in this case a .1 gram gold nugget, as per it being detected in the air just fine even with my Ace 250.

The conclusion is...even thought the At Pro doesnt have an all metal mode like the Scorpion, it will still detect this tiny nugget even with a larger coil and a discrimination based Pro Mode in this really hot Oregon dirt.

I'd say the AT Pro will be a fine prospecting machine.

CHECK IT OUT:

I figured the Scorpion would have easily picked up that 0.1 gram in your fairly hot soil properly ground balanced, but I was greatly surprised at how easily it picked it up with the AT Pro, even with such a large coil. That was just phenomenal!. Now I am not close to any gold nugget producing areas, however, the lights are starting to go on when thinking about it's great potential for finding gold rings and gold jewellery. Thank you Alan for proving what I could only suspect, which is the AT Pros attraction to gold....not in the air, but actually in some challenging conditions in the real world. You have just taken the AT Pro to a much higher level as previous. I truly can't wait until some better weather arrives so I too can start looking for that elusive gold jewellery. Looks like the AT Pro and the Scorpion are much more similar then I previous thought.

You were right on the ball on this one Alan:thumbup:

Hey thanks Alan!:thumbup:Great vid!:clapping:That's some hot ground, brotha!:detecting:Great demonstration!:garrett:

How about searching for black sand with AT Pro? Is that possible? Just curious.:wiggle:
That's what we've been doin' with the Scorps alot here lately at our secret spots in AZ. Just listen for that threshold to null out. Dig up that spot and run it through drywasher. Been doin' alright that way. No nuggies, but some fines and flakes. Tried lookin' for some big deep nuggies with LS, but no luck. :nopity:

Thanks again for the vid!:bouncy:Well done!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Hey Metal...thanks for reminding me about the black sands. I have several pounds of it dumped out back after processing it from dredging and I need to run the AT Pro over it and see what happens. I also have found spots to mine with my Scorpion after the threshold nulls out. I'm curious what the AT pro will do. Probally nothing, but I'm gonna check it out.

Excellent video Alan, nice to see an unbiased Garrett detector only related post and a down to earth test.
A Black AT-Pro can indeed detect and point to a 0.1g piece of gold even below the surface.
Anyone prospecting with an Infinium LS and a Pro-Pointer will know the Pro-Pointer (out of the box) can keep up with the Infinium in respect to sensitivity of small gold.
However an AT-Pro when prospecting will outperform a normally tuned Pro-Pointer on tiny gold like 0.1gram but as most prospectors using a Pro-Pointer know by now, it's just a matter of a little Pro-Pointer super tuning the procedure to do so was revealed and posted back in 2008/09 and have been discovered, copied and re-posted several times by different people.....................only places where the info were never included have been publicized evaluation and field test reports.

When one know how a tool works, then one know how to work the tool.

Alway apprieciate your input from down under Ivan...I see your giving your AT Pro a good workout down there! You are correct about that super tuning the ProPointer to get the bits sometimes that hard hard to locate.

That looks like some iron infested ground in your picture...what does your AT Pro ground balance at on average there?

Great pic and info!
