Video - 8" Coin - Various Settings Compared

I came across an 8" coin and got it on video, only 3 1/2 minutes long. Very good hit but you still could observe some differences in the settings (volume gain at 23 btw). Yeah, it was from a 500 year old hunted out spot. :super:
My deepest "good hit" coin on the E-Trac was 9". Judging by how good this hit at 8" and since I could raise the coil another 3" or 4" above the ground, I have a feeling the CTX will go deeper in my somewhat iron mineralized ground.

I compared the following settings/modes:
50 Conductive Vs. Combine
Ferrous Coin Vs. High Trash
Recovery Fast On Vs. Off
Sensitivity Vs. Manual

* I have to say, if you haven't tried Recovery Fast On, I recommend trying it. The sound is not really clipped like on the E-Trac and the VID #'s do not really appear much less stable (just slightly). But, in testing, it does appear to give a noticeable improvement in separation/unmasking. Not sure about it's affect, if any, on depth. Where as on the E-Trac I ran it off, I have been running it on, on the CTX.

I've moved my minimal disc pattern out from just the lower right to the second vertical line from the left, if you can see. Seems to do the trick now.

Another thing, notice how a hot manual sensitivity possibly affected the targets VID stability. Or is the machine tracking to the target and calming down? (Thanks for that mention Gazza209)

Please post if you noticed anything in the video, recommendations, etc., as I'm wondering as well about the CTX.

Thanks,
Albert

Great video Albert it does seem they are so subtle changes between settings but overall very stable and dead on.

Great description Albert. Thanks for taking the time to do methodical sweeps, allowing "viewers" to get a real sense of being on the hunt with you. I've been communicating with Minelab engineering in regard to TID numbers varying between Separation modes and recently posted their response in the Classroom forum. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?87,1734139,1734139#msg-1734139

Just curios as to why you did not compare deep on and off? Looks to be a pretty nice spot you have there. Need a hunting partner? LOL Good informative video:thumbup: Keep up the good work. HH Joe

Thanks for the comments. Nice to see people find it useful.

Randy - Thx for the link! That was great information! Please ask those engineers more questions and tell them not to be strangers. Anything coming from the horses mouth like that is very much appreciated.

etracjoe - Great point and it did cross my mine while editing the video. I think in the Field (on the E-Trac) I never found recovery deep to do anything, probably because my iron mineralized ground made is so I couldn't get real deep anyway. The signal was solid on the above video so in the field it didn't cross my mind but you are right. I plan on testing this out as this is not an E-Trac. So, thanks for the reminder - appreciated!
