VID Chart

Can someone please post a VID chart that reflects AT Pro readings for both U.S. coins and gold/silver beach finds? Thanks in advance.

Gold can read in the 40's to the 70's depending on it's size and compound composition and k value. Having said that, gold rings often read in the same spot as pull tabs, which ends up being a lot of time spent digging for gold. There is no metal detector out there which can accurately ID gold for you, and if someone tells you different, start running. :) Silver coin sized objects tend to read in the 70's to 80's, depending on how long the silver has been in the ground and how much oxidation has formed on it's surface. It's not a perfect science, as there are variables which interfere with getting constant exact numbers for targets. The most successful hunters are the ones who tend to dig all the iffy signals, which eventually turns you into an expert with your specific metal detector. :)

The 14k ring I got yesterday VID @ 46-48 steady the small silver ring hit at 80-82 the heavier silver rings I found hit at 90 -92 and I had one 10 k gold ring hit at 56 -63 hope that helps a little

It seems to me that silver and gold aren't as noisy as foil and junk. Especially when in the pro mode. I still dig anything that has a solid repeatable signal. I'd be interested in comments from the "veteran" AT pro users since I haven't had mine very long. I think I have been pretty successful.... (Lots of clad coins and one silver ring -- so far.)

I'm a veteran user with about 160 hours on the AT Pro. I'm no expert. I can tell you I find about 1300 coins per month. Do I do everything exactly right? No.
Each time I go out I learn something new. Today I was searching the seating area around a baseball field and I got a VDI of 58 repeatable in 4 passes with the coil
58 is not a common VDI with the Pro. So I said to myself I need to dig this for experience.
Can you guess what was in the ground? 2 nickels on top one another. I knew enough to know that VDI 58 needs to be dug.

What I'm trying to say is you need to know when to definitely dig a target and to know to definitely not to dig a target.

I personally use iron audio a lot after I read the target VID, check the sound and look at the notch indications.
This saves a lot of time.

The pro is a dime and quarter magnet. It is also great on silver and gold.

Great info! Thanks:thumbup:
