Vibraprobe Depth & Comparison To ProPointer

Critterhunter

New member
A friend just got a vibraprobe from kellyco and it's depth was not nearly as good as his propointer. really shocked because being a PI i would have expected the vibraprobe to go real deep. it looked like it was getting about an inch to an inch and a half. We tested it in his house. Any chance the auto adjust is tuning it down due to interference and it will go deeper in the field? he loves his propointer as i love mine but he wanted a waterproof unit for some water hunting. he'll always use the propointer on land. Also, the vibraprobes vibration is not as good as the propointer. Just trying to figure out if het got a bad one.

The Vibraprobe is not a deep seeking unit. It pinpoints your target for you. You detector finds the target ( deep seeking) and the probe assist you in locating it. I have a a Vibraprobe and like it very much. When I made the purchase, I knew it only reached out 1 inch or so. That is exactly what I wanted.

It is a matter of personal choice. If you are looking for a probe that reaches out several inches, Vibraprobe is not the unit to buy. Garrett Pro Pointer is a good unit also as well as the Pistol Probe. They all have their pros and cons. There are quite a few pin pointers on the market so you will have to do some research and comparison of each ones abilities. Some only vibrate. Some have lights, other do not. Some beep as well as vibrate. Some are water proof others are not. Some have a range of 2 to 3 inches others only about 1 inch.

On the bright side, if your friend is not happy with his purchase he can sell it and get most if not all of his money back and reinvest in another unit that will fit his needs.

I know the pros/cons and proper use of pinpointers. I was just asking if the depyh of this thing is what it should be. Roughly an inch and the vibrate on it is very weak. Being a PI I thought it would get more depth than that. Love my propointer. So much better performance. My friend loves his as well, he just needed a waterproof unit for water. I suspect it would not be hard to waterproof the propointer. Rubber o-ring under end cap and some rubber cement over speaker hole.

That sounds about right. I have had two of them and that is what I got.

Critterhunter-----I doubt if your friend got a bad Vibraprobe.----I think that's just the way they are.----I had one for awhile & the thing about drove me nuts trying to find the target (coin) in the hole (or dirt pile).---It just didn't have any "oompth" (strength).---I'd have to be actually right at (almost) touching the coin before it would even read on it (vibrate).------The Pro Pointer is a different story altogether, it works GREAT & I love that little pinpointer.-----I agree with you, I don't think it would take much to make the Pro Pointer waterproof (or close to it).----The Garrett ad shows them covering the speaker hole & washing it off under a water faucet.----Seal up that speaker hole and battery cap and that should about do it.----I think there is already an (inner) rubber gasket inside of the screw on battery cap but you could put one on the cap yourself also if you would still have enough threads left to get it started screwing it back on.----------Del

Thanks for the info. Guess it's just not as good as the propointer but it will still be useful in the water. I should tell him to send it back and buy a 2nd propointer to waterproof and use just for water since it'll be more quiet with the speaker sealed up.

I have the vibraprobe it go down about 2 inchs viberates hard and fast
love it
