Vibra-Tector

Hello there

I sold my entry level detector and now have some funds to spoil myself on something new :)

I came across the Vibra-tector - an underwater PI unit 16 inches long with a 4inch coil. Has anyone used these before? If so are they worth $150? I'm thinking of taking it to some popular swimming holes around here where it would be kinda intrusive to go wading with a Sovereign GT :) The 16 inch long unit would be perfect. It's discreet and could be a lot of fun snorkeling in the cool creeks while swinging looking for long lost gold rings (and bottle caps) :)

Cheers

snoopy,

i use a vibra probe to check finds in my sifter after using my water detector and scoop to get the target there. it does not have enough range fo be of much use for regular detecting but not sure about the vibra-tector. i have several vibra probes and will say that they have stood up to all the use that i have thrown at them and are still working great.

Some of those swimming holes are located in National Parks, so watch the jealous Rangers.
If you visit NQ Miners Den Cairns, you might be able to try some of the Vibra Products mentioned, by arrangement.

I have one, I use in places where you want to be stelth, a friend of mine found a nice gold ring diving in a spring last year with it, in will fit in creveses and cracks the bigger coils won't go. It doesn't have allot of depth, but for the money it works good. HH

i just bought it should be here Friday ,, i scuba dive wrecks and i did some research on it and talked to the head guy
over at kellyco and he dives and he told me it works great ,.. well when i get it and use it i will def let you know '
but on the the up side it is only $145.. so i took a shot ,, and bought it,,

Mine arrived about a week or so ago but the sad thing is i haven't had the chance to use it!

I too will let everyone know how I go with it

cheers

It looks like it is made by vibra probe and i think it's depth is only about 2 inches 3 inches at max........

Yes, those numbers are repeated very often, but I have not seen anyone confirming them. I would love to see some airtests of this machine. It is a PI, so it should not be influenced by ground.

I got one too as I got a good deal:) I will (hopefully) use it during next week on a salt water beach, so I will share my impressions afterwards.

I see I should write a small follow up:) The Vibra Tector 730 definitely stays with me. On land and in sand, I use my Pistol Probe exclusively (for me it is the best pinpointer, not perfect but close). The head on the VT730 is too large for the holes I usually dig. I have never used it for snorkeling or diving, but it should be fine for that. I used it to pinpoint difficult targets on the sea bed. It works great for that. Sometimes it is quicker than scooping again and again. It is really well built and there was not even a slight leak after 20+ hours under water. The tilt switch just needs a little patience to learn.

If I wanted to have a "traditional" style pinpointer, I would maybe try one of their Vibra Probes. If you want a handheld MD to find the stuff in the first 3-4 inches of the sand while snorkeling, get the VT730. I have a very limited water detecting experience but I have seen quite a few very shallow targets at some parts of the beach which could definitely be found with the VT730.
