VGA vs MegaPixel

I read that a VGA camera can take the same picture quality as a 2.2 MegaPixel cam, aside from the fact that VGA images are smaller. Is there any truth to that? If I take an VGA picture will it look simalure to a 2.2 MegaPixel pic just smaller?
I am getting a cam that (on its internel mem card) ethier takes, 90 VGA, 60SVGA, or 12 MegaPixel picture.(I intend to use the pictures for the web.)should I use the the MegaPixel mode or will VGA be fine for the web?
Thanks! jesse

Re-check whether that camera you are looking at takes a 12 mega-pixel picture. The only 12 mega-pixel camera I know of right now is the new Fuji S2 35mm style digital camera that costs $4500.00
