Vet Wrap.....

I just wanted to pass along a tip that was shared with me a couple months ago, by Kevin in MA. We were discussing the trials and tribulations of detecting, and how we both like to keep our detectors looking good. He said he'd been putting some Vet Wrap around the foam grips on his. It keeps the foam grip looking new by absorbing perspiration and keeps the dirt off the grip. I headed down to the local Farm Supply store and bought a roll. It only cost a couple bucks and is kind of like an Ace Bandage, but thinner. It comes in various widths and assorted colors. I bought the 4-inch black and it is amazing stuff! It is stretchy and sticks only to itself. So you don't have to worry about it damaging the foam on your grip. I wrapped about 4 or 5 turns around the grip, stretching it a bit as I went. I cut it off and it stuck right down. After a couple months use, the outside layer is starting to show some wear and is getting dirty. No problem! Simply tear off the outer layer and it looks like new! When it gets down to the last winding, I have about 3/4 of that roll left to do it again.

Just thought I'd pass this along. HH Randy

Thanks Randy, very good tip. This sounds a lot like a product called coban that is also similar to Ace bandage, and also thinner. It's marketed by Nexcare and is available at most pharmacies. I deal with it at work and might have to give it a shot. Would have never even thought about using it this way had you not brought it up. Thanks!
