It's funny you mention that, I have read posts, reviews, and have been told by others the Excal II wont find small items. I have found the back of earrings, links from bracelets, and other numerous tiny items.....The Excal II is a great machine used in the proper environment..HH

I've read that too, but This is not true, that little piece was about 4 to 6 inches down and the Excal II heard it just fine. I have also found smaller pieces of foil, not as deep but It did make a good enough sound to dig. I have also found gold earring backings with my Excal II. I think it all boils down to how fast you are swinging the coil for the detector to catch that small target, and I think that applys to most all detectors. I have a Whites Pulse surfmaster, I go fast I get targets, I slow way down I get twice the targets. Same with my Excal. Gene
