My first target was a 167 my wedding ring comes in at this number so I had to dig and see this target, just may be my day.Another strange looking square tab as expected.A couple feet away from my first target 166-167 this time a pull tab with a tail fooled again.Third target a 144 no bounce no matter what angle sweep was 144 would not move to any other number. My first guess this had to be an older nickle. The plug was cut and using the S-1 probe the target was still in the hole.I was now sure this was a nickle another scoop of dirt revealed what looked like a gold locket. After cleaning dirt of the target I could see the blue sapphire stone and the ring was very heavy. My brother in Virginia has been calling me every time he made a good find last time a 1846 large cent.I called my brother and told him of the find and that I thought it may be gold.RJ my hunting buddy and local Whites dealer made a call to Rick and explained I was over by his place at the park and had a find to show him bring a magnified glass.Rick came to the park within fifteen minutes. When Rick asked what did you get I handed him the ring and commented nice and this is heavy and look at the blue stone.Well anyway Rick could see a 14k mark and sometime next week I will stop by a jewelry shop to get an idea of its value.Later Ron

Ron , 4 years and i have not found one gold ring , and you go out for a short hunt , and look , congradulations and the good find as for me i will have to go to the scrap yard to cash in all my nails

Local jewelry store near me pays roughly $25/gram for 14K

call around and ask what they pay per gram on 14K.

Aaron

Ask what percent of melt value they pay. If you get a rate of near 80% grab it. It is easy to calculate what you should get. 14K is 58.3% pure gold.

At $1495 per ounce (today's price) each gram is worth approximately $53 per gram for pure or $31 for 14K. That ring must weigh at least 6 grams and possibly much more.

Nice find for sure!

I found a ring two weeks ago. At 1560 an oz, the guy offered me 40 for a 1.7 gram 14 k ring...which he refused to test for 18k.

I declined. I horde my stuff. He was happy to grade it for me and is probably correct about karat. With 53 dollars worth of gold, 40 bucks wasnt a bad offer.

85% an up is ok. The sad thing is...that 40 bucks wont even fill my gas tank. Well. HH. -Joe

James I'm not sure the value of the stone it seems everyone is interested in gold melt value. The one guy said it was 10 grams.and I didn't see him weigh it.with a recheck, not that I don't trust people, came up with 11.25 grams as my actual weight.
