This was found at a homestead spot that is now a national park here in Oregon. I was somewhat amazed to see this come up & it may be my oldest American find judging by looks. No help from Google & I have no clue as to rarity & value on these.

Also-it appears to have been trimmed by hand. I would guess clipping -VDI is 84 so I guess it could be silver but not judging by feel/looks.

Anyone have a clue who Jack F Harris of 251 first st was & any other info would be helpfull...

Thanks!

According to Richard's Token Database, it's from Portland, Oregon. Made of aluminum.

Great pic-wish mine looked like that.

Any year/ value listed?...EDIT:-Duh-I googled that database & looked it up myself...I'm earmarking the site.

This thing was treated very poorly compared to those pictured. Maybe someone used it for a shim but I don't see excess wear on the faces.

I know Aluminum was scarce back then-is that possibly why it was clipped?..I can see traces of the dotted edge so they took a lot off.

Thanks again!

We'll never know for sure, but I can imagine a kid finding his dad's tin snips and giving them a try.

Looks like someone filed it down (the flat spots)...I recall some home science project where I needed aluminum shavings or powder...Can;t recall what it was for, but knowing me, it probably involved explosions or pyrotechnics...
