Very old scouting pin

Hey everyone,
I found this scouting pin on an old one room school house property out in the middle of the woods. It was nearly one foot down and made my White's 6000DiPro SL look & act as if I had found a piece of gold! The flash lit photo don't do it justice - It looks like almost like gold through out, other than the green oxidation aroung the copper safety pin. It's in really good shape. It came right out of the ground looking almost like it were new!:surprised:
I was in Boy Scouts back in the middle 60's. Even then, all uniform decorations used straight pins with a clamp on the other side of the uniform - not safety pins. I'm curious as to the approximate age of this item. Certainly I can't go by the patent date on the obverse side, but if someone knows when they stopped using safety pins, it would give me a general idea as to its age. Thanks!
Is this thing worth anything to collectors?

Just an update of this item. I did a little Internet research on this item & found a collector of scouting memorabilia. He said this was a Tenderfoot pin from the 50's, was quite common & is worth next to nothing:sadwalk:. (listed Patent dates can really throw a person off sometimes...) Oh well:shrug:, back to the hunt:detecting:!

...most listings say they are from the 50's or 60's, but one fella tried to pass one off as vintage 1911 pin in his description... nobody bought it though, and the listing timed out with zero bids. Most seem to be going for around $5.

Thanks for posting NC MN!

Steve
