This is a question for more experienced ATP users.

I went to a club members property for a hunt. It has been farm or ranch apparently for a long time. 100 acres. While there I decided to stay in Pro zero mode, something I haven't done much of, but have done. I usually use Pro Coin. But because it was a relic hunt I used Zero. The thing is I got constant almost non-stop signals. I ended up only digging the strongest and later the shallowest. Even though the good stuff may be the deepest.

Is this normal, constant, or almost constant signals?? I can't say if every signal was an actual target because I didn't dig them all. But the signals I dug were targets.

Iron Disc was 35. Before each hunt I return to factory settings and start there. Then I ground balanced and to make sure it wasn't the radio tower nearby changed frequency and then moved away from it. Then reduced sensitivity, but still got a lot of chatter.

I'll be going out today to check the machine at another location or two.

did this happen to anyone elses machine? Or was you alone. My family farm has a lot of shotgun BB's from people always shooting bats in the yards a long time ago. My ATPro seems to do the same thing here, and that's the only thing I can think of that's causing it is all the lead shot everywhere in the yards. Just a thought

Hi, I think you should be tested in a different place, so you can know if the area or the machine.
a greeting

I was with the club, about 10 other people. Nobody else mentioned the problem, but none had the ATP. I kind of believe there was a lot of metal and I need to detect more in pro zero, which I don't do.

In Pro Zero mode it's like having eye balls under ground, your going to hear everything good and bad, the reason some like myself like to hear everything is once you get use to it, you can hear a dime laying in close proximity to that old rusty nail,, but I'd go to a local park and see if the detector settles down in this environment, things like underground power lines,, overhead power lines,, close to any electrical equiptment,, can cause problems,, it takes adjusting the sensitivity or adjusting the freq. and sometimes just adjusting the disc helps,, HH..

What coil were you using ???
You say 10 other metal detectors there,, if they were some close by,, that could be a problem....??
I run my AT Pro in Pro Zero mode, full sens where I can,, iron disc at 35,+ or -,,,,what ever freq is best....
Pro Zero makes some noise,, but I am use to it....
In trashy area's, i use the 4.5" coil or the 5x8" coil and slow down..
I have run across a place or 2,, that there was some EMI,, the Freq shift did nothing,,had to drop the sens down....
Now days,, there are lots of things that cause EMI.
The bigger the coil,, the more it picks up,, targets and EMI....
Most of my GB numbers are + or - 80,,,,and if I am in a place to trashy to GB,,,I just set the GB to 80 and hunt...

OK, Skipped the beach and decided to hit the park in Pro Zero mode, full sensitivity. I ignored anything I knew would be trash and dug what I knew would be coins and anything new. This was the one I never had. A high tone, VDI reading of 87 to 90 and indicated as large coin. Dug it next to an older stone foot bridge and was about 4 inches down. It has a Trident stamped inside with ilegible letters on either side and STER underneath.

Well, Its a nugget style with the cross. There are similar on ebay.

I hunted the park to check my machine after the confusing hunt Saturday. Wasn't anything like Saturday, not as many signals. I am convinced the property on Saturday was just very trash laden and my ATP is fine. Now for the wet sand at the beach. I need to master that, it's why I I bought the ATP.

That's not a trident, it's a menorah. That's a James Avery ring. Check out their website and you should find that ring or one similar.

Menorah was my first guess but I thought again. Found a similar one on the James Avery site. Thanks

The ring looks hefty. Always nice to see silver.

I was at an area that had been torn down. There was so much junk I could not ground balance, so I just had to guess at it. Had to lower sensitivity just to be able to seperate out any targets. Another guy had a different brand, more expensive. He got fed up and I saw he made a post lookinig for a different detector. Trash tolerance is something you have to build up to. It can be brutal.

The hunt I went on Saturday was the trashiest I have ever seen. The park I hunt regularly is very trashy, having been filled with soil from the trash dump, and the hunt site Saturday was worse.
