Vehicle temperature?

Nebraska Newbie

New member
Hi everyone, I commute to work and would like to take my Vision with me. Since it has been hot outside I am afraid to leave it in the car all day. Will the heat hurt it or the coils? I am curious if there is a temperature range hot or cold that should be avoided.

I have carried my detectors in my truck, (extended cab F-150), for years with no problem. I hang a ballcap over the screen and lay them behind the seat. I've carried a SovereignGT, T2, F75, Explorer SE, E-TRAC, Tejon, and V3 back there. I always have two or three of them with me... always because coming back home to get a detector then driving back to where I was is not a good option.

I've never had a problem but my rear windows have a bit of a tint. They still get hot I reckon but they always work just fine. If I were you i'd lay a sheet or towel over it to block the direct sunlight and a ballcap hangs really well over the display panel.

FWIW, I live in GA but it's hot everywhere.

I know others may disagree but i've never had a problem.

I do the same when I go to work, leave the windows open slightly and cover the entire box and screen with a jacket.

Thank you for the info. There are some parks I would like to try close to where I work but I never want to head all the way back.

I bought a bow (archery) case at cabela's for mine and can get my detector ,shovel and everything I need in there and it keeps the heat away also, plus I can carry it on my motorcycle also

Which case? Model #?

its a " SKB" made in orange California I'll see if I can find it in the catalog, its a hard casse with TSA locks so if you go thru an airport they can open it and then relock it

I ended up with a bum Super 12 after leaving it in a hot car. I proceeded to open it up and found the nulling wire is set in place with hot glue. That said, I would endeavor to keep your coils out of the heat...
