Kinda sounds alittle like if it beeps... DIG ! Hey try this, next time your out put a piece of black tape over the screen, listen to the beeps, if it is sharp and clear, dig, if it sounds fuzzy or broken don't dig. Not trying to be a S/A but too much goes into these VDI's. For instance, your in an area diggin alot of tabs and trash that range from the teens to the 40's, a lot of them sound good and don't have a bouncing vdi, well you get another beep, 37 vdi, dern tab, but what if... it might be....and it was a great big class ring , another school play area tabs tops and zippers galore all sound good vdi's teens to 40's again hit a 30 vdi another zipper ?? nope another nice big class ring, yet another school diggin a ton of tabs all 20-22 vdi's hit another 22 vdi a smaller girls class ring, another school hit a 41 vdi a nickel and quarter laying together at 4 inches. I also dug a small gold charm with a vdi of 8. That day I also filler my bag with small foil and tabs, If if would not have dug about every beep I would not have found the cross, what do you do ?? Well Once I get fustrated with digging the trash I won'y dig it if it reads lower that 16 which is the lowest reading I have gotten on a nickel. Small gold jewelry is nice to find but normally few and far between and most sizeble rings will read 16 or higher. I feel like any item can read way off as far as vdi's depending on the situation, trash, iron , corrosion and the list goes on, the only sure fire method to know what your beepin on is dig it up. You ever notice that at times you spend more time looking at the meter than you do looking at the ground ??? Now if I were strictly coin hunting I would dig only 18-20, and 74-84. And at this I'll still leave some coins and who knows what else behind . You can run a disc of 3 and still you'll get some foil. Well I recon thats enuff of this long windedness fer now. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
