VDI tones

Hi All: can someone answer a ques.on my vdi tones.I've adj. the neg vdi's to 0 tone yet continue to get a tone for neg.#s.I run in mixed mode can this be the reason,I accept all vdi's in disc, and have set the tones to 0 as noted. Is there some other adj.that needs to be set to eliminate those distracting tones? Thanks for reading this post,I am making progress with my V3i but this issue has me confused.
Thanks again for any guidance ....Jack from Pa.

Hi Jack!

The tones in Mixed Mode are more of a hum than a beep. You are hearing the "ALL METAL" channel of mixed mode. If you want to eliminate this, you will have to turn off the Mixed Mode. Then you will only hear the positive tones from the Discriminate channel. The mixed mode allows you to hear the hum from deeper signals than the Discriminate channel, but it is a trade off. It can drive you crazy in trashy areas.

What part of PA are you in?

Exactly what Neil said. Rob

Hi Neil:thanks for the info, will try running without mixed mode and your spot on.The tone is a hum rather than a target beep.
I'm located north of Philly in the Lansdale area. Thanks again for the info.......Jack
