VDI numbers

I have a question for Xterra users on possible ID's with a reading of 6 to 9. Would these targets generally be small iron or could they be gold? The area I'm searching was once a swimming lake that is now drained (not too many targets but quite a few 6's and 9's on VDI) plenty of coins just not much trash was my reason for this question. I'm hunting in all metal with 4 tone option.

Targets with a TID of 6 or 9 on the X-50 or 505 can represent a US 3-cent nickel, small yellow gold items, platinum, white gold, rose gold, brass cartridge casings, small pieces of lead, foil, small bits of iron, small pieces of can slaw, some foreign coins and some US 5-cent nickels. I'm sure I left out a few specific items. But those are among the items I've verified. If you are in an area that was used as an old swimming hole without much trash, I'd be digging everything that beeped! HH Randy

I was hoping small gold would read in that range cause I'm headed to the dry lake bed here in about 20 minutes. Happy huntin and I appreciate the response.

Dig it all. My wife's wedding band comes in at a 4. I dug a Canadian large cent the other day that was an inconsistent 6. There was nails in the hole with it. after I dug it it was a 32.

I'm headed out in just a few to hit the lake bed hard. If I find some good stuff I'll post it to the forum.

HH to all and thanks for the info

Good luck...I would dig the numbers!

Well folks I dug the low positive VDI's and every one of them was a fishing sinker. I didn't find anything old but I am glad to know about gold and platinum falling in the low positive numbers. I'll keep digging those signals around the swimming areas I hunt. You never know I may score a ring.
