PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT KIND OF NUMBERS THEY ARE GETTING FOR SILVER . I AM USING A SFE 6X8 COIL I HAVE ONLY FOUND 1 NICKEL AND THAT READ 23. ALL PENNIES HAVE BEEN IN THE 90 TO 95 RANGE BUT NO SILVER.THE PLACES THAT I HAVE BEEN ARE ALL OLD AND I AM SURE THERES MORE THAN JUST PENNIES THERE BUT I DO NOT KNOW THE VDI NUMBERS TO HELP ME FROM DIGGING SO MUCH TRASH.

I don't have the SEF, but if the send and receive coils have the correct phase shift to allow proper discrimination and correct VDI numbers, then here they are:
"I copied these from another post":

silver 3 cent coin 1858- 52+55 screwcap
half dime- 57 screwcap
zinc penny-62 ladies silver ring-79+80 penny dime
indian head penny-52+55 screwcap CW 69 cal bullett-52+55 screwcap
copper and wheat pennies-77 CW 58 cal bullet-52 screwcap
V nickle- 16+18 CW sharps bullet-52 screwcap
buffalo nickle and war nickle-20 CW 36 cal bullet-45 screwcap
mercury dime-80
barber dime-78+79
clad dime-77
clad quarter-83 to 86
washington silver quarter-85+86
1965 40% silver half-89 to 92
morgan silver dollar-93+94

They look to be in line with what I get.

The silver that come under my coil usually
will be in the 80 to 85 range 83 being the average.
I hunt in the relic mode trigger forward
and check out the VDI's 50 to high 80's
Doing this style of hunting the older MXT
will give you two tones high for the better
targets low for the iron based items.
My averages in finds definitely have
increased once I've mastered this mode.
Bottle caps will jump from teens to 50s unsteady
sometimes higher ,once in a while I'll check
them just to verify that jumping signal.
If the bottle caps are doubled up they will
be up to 80's VDI
Our $1 and $2 coins also jump around
but higher numbers teens into the 70&80's
Can slaw also is a good signal ( steady )
but will check them out if close to pull
tab VDI's Usually high tones ( broken )
I have the standard 9.5 coil

[size=large]if those pennies are american then they are high. should be in the low 80's at most. silver will start at around 81 and up. i believe the soil conditions will alter the reading somewhat. when it was wet around here, s.w. washington, the pennies would come in at 70's to 81. when it got really dry the numbers climbed to 83. i lost many a qtr. to it changing to a penny just before i pulled it out. we have very high mineralized soil. the nickels have staid at around 21-23. these numbers are not hard facts. so many variables factor in. metal next to the target . mixed coins in spills ect. these are average numbers. something to start with.and they are based on american coins. i also have the 8x6 sef coil. haven't used it enough to know if it's anygood or not. came out better than the 6x10 whites on a test video.
