VDI 710-74 ?????

New member
Went hunting yesterday for only really the first time with the MXT and a couple of things puzzle me.

VDI 70-74 .01 would dig this and find nothing.

ZINC .01 would dig this and find nothing.

Me or the machine?

I don't know what .01 is and you didn't say what depth you were reading. Many times a reading of 74 and at 1 to 2 " is really a can at 6-7-8". Lift the coil higher if the signal remains it is a large, deep target. You aren't digging deep enough. You need to give more information than just zinc. Rob

I think Zinc .01 is a zinc cent. It does sound like a deep, large target to me too. A can will usually read a quarter for me though.

I don't really understand your readings but most of the time when I get a totally false signal it reads much higher than the 71 - 74.... more like the highest silver readings.

.01 means one cent. Computer Key boards don't have a cent sign.

So zinc .01 means zinc one cent.

Next time it happens I'll get the depth.

The VDI numbers for above are between 70-74

A little more info......I was having a low battery reading and I wonder if this could have affected the readings.

if I am referring to a 1

It's not worth the trouble, but that's just my 2

For me if the m6 had an option for 3 or 4 tones it would make it better. Also if the display didn't clear itself until the next signal would be another plus. Is it just me?
