Varied ID numbers on the XT70?

Has anyone tried to see if the IDs read differently in AM, Pattern 1 Track mode on and Pattern 1 Auto GB? I did some comparison (before digging) and got varied readings on two of our local dimes. Numbers seem quite different.

What does it mean if the ID numbers are also quite different from when the dime is at the surface of the ground?
