twice now in the last couple of weeks i have been told to buy an approved detector and not use that toy.i was using a vaquero in the parks.they were using the minelab ctx3030.i couldn't afford one of them even if i wanted to,besides i'm happy with the vaquero.emubob

that's funny :poke: I guess they can say theirs is bigger than yours like semi trailer bigger :punch: it's a huge detector and I use it for specific reasons but sure don't use it for clad and jewellery hunting in a park I do find it with my CTX but it's not what I grab for a park hunt unless I know there are some deep coins or some old ones. or on the salt beach.

90% of my detecting these days is done with light machines.

what does approved mean? approved by them? if they were so good I would tell everyone not to get one :lmfao:

You got the perfect machine for that kind of hunting... Amberjack and myself APPROVE your machine... I'm sure the others will be along shortly!

Funny thing about advice, its welcomed and appreciated but sometimes just not correct...I've been told by other guys who observed my style as I blaze past them swinging a 12' swath down a beach at a full gallop that I'm 'doing it all wrong!' 'going too fast'

They are waddling along in full battle dress with heavy high buck rigs, covering 3' arc, carefully gridding out a small area...and there I am barefoot just a howling through there like the Tasmanian Devil slinging a weed wacker zigzagging all over the place, grabbing all the fresh drops!...I dont get it, ...a guy has to grab fresh drops every morning in season, before 50 other coil swingers show up and pick it clean. A guy works a bit slower in the Fall when its not such a race....
Mud..

In the past I have been told I use the wrong tools and hunt in the wrong places by other hunters.
They were wrong every time.

My wife says I also dress funny but that is another issue.

I've had the opposite experience. I've had detectorist asking questions about my Vaquero .

those who call the Vaquero a toy must not have used one . I once figured Tesoro for junk , but they grew on me and i know way better now but i can not say the 30 30 is junk as i have not used one , I can only say its to expensive and to heavy , but it has it place all detectors seem to have better abilities in certain situations. so its good to keep an open mind and not let yourself get biased from one brand to another .

yep I use what works :poke:

yes its big and heavy and expensive a coil nut and bolt costs 45 $ :punch:

that there is some scary nuts and bolts :poke: sorry just wanted to use this :poke: again !

ah, don't worry about it, use what you like. probably find just as much as they do anyhow and they are jealous that you can with that "toy" haha

As with fishing tackle the price you pay does not always equate to success. It's the skill of the operator who understands the gear they have in hand. Tesoro detectors are low to mid priced machines accurate enough so that a person can improve their skills with them. The Vaquero is a fine machine and in the 7 months or so I've had mine it's gotten much better. I can hold my own hunting with anyone and their machines. In fact the same was true with my Compadre and older Garrett units before that. Simply to the time to learn what was on hand and did fine with them. The cool thing with the Tesoro machines is they are so light and compact. I've watched friends going over and over a spot squinting at their meters trying to get the "right" signal. I'll just run over the same spot, thumb the dial and either dig it or move on, case closed.
