Vaquero

I have a Etrac and a AT pro, any benefit of adding a Vaquero other than weight?

For me, a non-metered Tesoro turns up more fun relics and jewelry than I get with the metered detectors. I believe it is mostly me being more selective in what I dig with a metered detector. That leaves more trash and goodies in the ground to be found when I take the non-metered Tesoro out and dig most all targets.

Tejon in particular has turned up more gold for me than the metered detectors.

May not be that way for you, but then again, it may.
Cheers,
tvr

I recently traded for a Vaquero because of Tesoro's ability to find gold jewelry, as well as its light weight(bum wrist). I generally hunt modern dry land places such as newer parks, sports fields, playgrounds ect; I hunt some older places, but gold jewelry is always my main objective. I like finding older coins, I found a shoebox full of silver in the 80's. I found very little gold because of my hunting style back then. It is fun learning a new detector techniques. Anyway I like nobs for tweaking, manual ground balance and no more segmented and notch machines for me. Not everybody hunts the same, but Tesoro are good units. HH

I would try the Tejon. I have both but have come to like Tejon more because of coin check / pinpoint toggle switch. I owned an AT very briefly but hated the audio! Both machines are deeper than AT even a super tuned Vaquero. Good luck!

Yeah there will be a benefit. The Vaquero will be the best detector you got. What?you want me to lie?The deepest, lightest, less power, put in a kids book bag, best coil selection,Cheap on the pocket book, many of us that use Vaquero's have found some old stuff. But yeah, there would be a benefit.Oh,lifetime warranty too. :-D

It would depend on your hunting style. It might take you a while to get weaned from a display. My first detector over ten years ago was a Garrett GTAX 450 with a display. It worked well for me and I did good with it. Now that I have drank the koolaid and went the Tesoro way, I haven't looked back and don't miss the display at all. There is nothing like turning a knob to make a quick change. I don't have to stop and scroll through menus. When you look at the value vs. performance the Vaquero, Tejon, or Outlaw would be tough units for any detector to beat. I like to keep things simple yet highly effective. Tesoro does that for me!

I own the AT Pro and it is a great machine once you learn it's language, and you can hunt in the rain with it,, if you just get cabin fever and need to get out in wet weather, but I also own the Vaquero and love it for a totally different reason, I have gone back over areas I've pounded with the AT and found good finds with the Vaquero, I believe you ( or I ) can get to use to a screen and walk away from jumpy signals because you fill it's trash, the Vaquero is simple beep and dig and has a fantastic disc circuit and a twist of the knob will let you know what's under the coil, found more nickels than ever did with my At and deep coins in super tune mode... see You-tube vids on super tune you'll be amazed... I will own this machine for a long long time... HH

Can the E-trac hunt gold nuggets in the desert?.The Vaquero can.The Vaquero is simply a better relic machine. The depth test were done by 53 Silver. The Vaq can go deeper than the Etrac.I like the digital space sounds myself.I want a 705 Eterra bad.I have run minelabs.Any serious detectorist likes to have a Tesoro and Minelab. The Vaq is amazing.

Not sure about the depth being better (especially on silver), but you do have a great point; the Vaquero does do well on the desert gold nuggets. So does the Xterra!
