I'm thinking a cleansweep coil would be nice to have for my Vaquero. Can anyone tell me about how deep it goes and how easy it is to pinpoint with? I'm not a big fan of DD coils but have a situation where I need to be able to cover a large area and get at least 6 inches deep for coins and jewelry.
Is the cleansweep coil still sensitive to coins on edge and smaller targets or will I lose sensitivity with it. Also, is it mainly for areas with short grass or would it work ok in a field setting with taller grass? Thanks............
I have read many posts and most mention about 5 inch depth.
You said you are not a fan of DD coils, but I love my 10X12 DD.
More than 5 inches with this.
Keep in mind the taller the grass the less easy for a large coil to maneuver through it, but I have and not too bad, really.
you can loose depth due to the hieght of the grass but I tell ya,,, my CSC seems to NEVER find it's way off my Silver,,, 4 to 6 inches easy depending on soil,,, very easy to PP off the end of the coil. The feeling of getting such good coverage+priceless !!!
Thanks for the help guys. I thought the cleansweep coil would give me the needed depth, but it does look like it would be awkward to swing in any enviroment except a sports field or lawn where the grass was taller. The area I need to cover is the grove I located which is an 80 acre field. As soon as it gets mowed again we will be hunting it, and a larger coil would really speed things up. I do have a 10 1/2" coil for my CZ that would probably work fine but it isn't as light as the Vaquero. I may just stay with the stock coil on my Vaquero and spend a little more time hunting the site. Thanks ......
Sounds like you need the help of another Vaquero owner out there... J/K... I had a c/s on my Cibola last year and it kicked butt on the beach and fields. I sold the Cibola last fall, but now that I own a Vaquero I'll be looking for another c/s coil. Just as everyone has said, probably one of the easiest coils to pp using the toe of the coil as it is so narrow. I didn't think it balanced too bad either. If anything, it will narrow down the areas to go back over with a deeper coil. Your post on the groves has me drooling as to what you will find. Keep us posted!
triplehooked, thanks for the info about the cleansweep coil. When it rains we will go back and hunt the area around the owners house and the old store. This is all mowed nice and short so I might have something to post real soon......HH.
