Vaquero VS Omega 8000

My main detector currently is a Vaquero with stock, 5.75 concentric, and 10x12 SEF coils. How would my new 8000 stack up to it?

Have the Cibola instead of the Vaquero but.... Omega gives you options for different tones and the ability to notch. Vaquero with the 5.75 (I also have this coil) better separation in trashy areas, better discrimination in trash at least with the small coil and the stock (I don't have a SEF coil ) and best of all no EMI issues unless you are right under a power line when using max sensitivity.

Overall I would choose the vaquero. Better depth. Don't have to look at a meter.

With the multi-tone Omega, meter watching is optional.

had an Omega sold it not that it didn't find stuff but bit too chatty for me and we just didn't click.

The only way the Vaquero is deeper than the Omega is to super tune and then your pretty much all metal!

If you want to turn your Omega into a beep and dig just set the discrimination to where you want it, choose one tone, run the sensitivity up to about 70, ground balance and just don't look at the meter (or cover it)
For primarily coin hunting I would for sure take the Omega (I've had both, plus two different Tejon's).

Ive had both and i would choose the vaqureo hands down... they are both good machines but the vaqureo is better. There was never a sight that i couldn't hunt with it. The omega hates EMI and some places its absolutely worthless.

I had the same experience with it. I only got the 13" coil for it so I could hunt a large soccer complex for shallow targets and still have tones and the ability to notch.

Omega 8000 is far more versatile with 4 tones and notch.
If you want beep and dig you can run allmetal and still have the very accurate vdi #'s to use or single tone disc in discrimination mode.
Depth is just good or better on deep silver.

I have owned and hunted with both. The Vaquero is deeper when super tuned and is tougher in pull tab city while hunting for clad or silver. The Vaquero is much easier to ID a nickel than the Tek 8000. In the deep sand in volley ball courts the vaquero was king, but not by much. In volley ball courts I like to run the 8000 in AT mode as it ID's in all metal. I liked the Vaquero in high EMI areas, better than the 8000. The 8000 is much easier to ground balance, ID's in AT mode,runs 1 to 4 sound tones including the important 2 tone, easier to pinpoint, not as hot in tot lots on those pesty metal structures and metal tacks holding the bottom floor cover down. I sold the Vaquero to buy a gamma which I kept and then bought a 8000.. I wished I had keep the Vaquero, but the gamma is a heck of loaner detectors. I now use the 8000 and a Tesoro Outlaw as my primary detector. Too be honest I like the Outlaw better than the others that are mentioned. That of course is another story. Good Luck!

Well there both really good I actually use the gamma 6000 now but I've owned many vaquero and swore by them for a few years some were hot and some were not the thing is these machines are really different animals and boast different strenghths the downfall on teknetics end is like mentioned the EMI is killer and have to adjust sens a lot to calm it down losing depth now on the vaq you got to have a trained ear to tell what it is before you dig and not only that the vaq on my ground anyways you go from low mineralization to extreme high in just a few feet and got to readjut G/B and the gamma at least you have a read out of every sweep to know what to expect you know we could keep going on and on about little things about who's best but at the end of the day its all about user preference and what suits his or her needs and otherwise mentioned of certain weeknesses .........just my 2 cents worth
