Vaquero Tone

Does anyone know how to modify a Vaquero to a high tone model? Don't know why they don't come with a toggle switch so it would be selectable.

Everything I've ever heard about Tesoro has been they are GREAT on turnaround time for repairs.

Why risk voiding an outstanding warranty by opening the case yourself?

I used my SS+ for many, many years before it failed to power up when I turned the switch on.
I'm almost sure it's something simple, but I would not want to void my warranty.

If you're a bold sort, It's most likely a dip switch, a trim pot, or a vcap to adjust.

I thought it might be easy like a dip switch or something. I would be scared of the soldering iron.

Wise Choice:)

If you don't know how to solder wires off of and on to micro chip circuit boards, then your Tesoro is not the place to start.

IMPORTANT!!! You Have To Have Experience to Successfully Attempt Modification of a Tesoro Circuit Board. It's Not a Radio Shack Project.

I have taken the front cover off to remove sand. When I did I gently blew the case out with compressed air. I also wiped dirt off at the inside bottom of the case where sweat had penetrated the case and left a dirty residue.

That's as far as I'm going and I have been soldering electric guitar circuits for over 30 years.

I made this guitar out of a broken and warped neck I found in the trash over 30 years ago. The body was a 2"X12" pine board. The rest is junk guitar parts. Total cost was less than $30. The pickup was $15. It's a 1968 Fender Telecaster pickup and It's a HOT MOMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!:super:

The neck's not broken and warped any more:)

My son did the art work a few years ago when he was 15 years old.
We both play bass.

I wouldn't work on a Tesoro circuit board,

after Tejon users discovered the audio qualities of Tejon on iron targets. We discovered that iron has a particular "snap" to it when the audio frequency is set higher. It wasnt long before asked to have is Vaquero set to the higher tone, and before long a lot of users were asking for it so Tesoro made it an option. You can buy a high tone Vaquero, or if you have a standard tone machine you can send it back to the factory and they will modify it for you. There is a small fee involved. Some guys like the higher tone and others dont.

Hey Tabdog!

I got a bunch of guitar parts buried somewhere around here.
Was going to do the same thing.

Back then, was busy working, and our boys kept coming home with great deals on this, or that.
So we just bought em the good deal and I STILL got parts!

Library had a great book on how to do fancy wiring on guitar pickups.

I never wanted to mod my detectors... til I saw the $1200.00 cibola!
