Vaquero sensitivity in all metal question...

ArtWI

New member
When the Vaquero is in all metal is the sensitivity user adjustable or does it go to max sensitivity with no user adjustment available?
Thanks for any replies,ArtWI

Just by checking with airtests, both the Vaquero and Tejon apparently has fixed sensitivity in all metal mode. In addition and contrary to some's beliefs, all metal is noticeably deeper than discriminate mode set to accept all metals. ;)

The All Metal Mode is indeed Fixed but modulated.

You can Advance the TUNING to maximum and when operating in the discrimination mode, this will Supercharge the Audio Signal Response and actually increase the signal over the modulated all metal response. If you use this technique, be sure to turn the tuner back to a faint hum if you use the all metal to pin point.

I would like to see the Sensitivity or Gain Control work with BOTH modes. I also noticed that the Cortes II has a dramatically lower gain in its pre-set all metal mode.

I've received a few e-mails asking me this question and wanted to check what I've been telling them. They are wondering about Brandy Station and in my opinion using the true all metal mode with a maxed out sensitivity (not user adjustable) may be a problem in that soil.
See ya in November, ArtWI

Haven't seen many posts by you lately. Hope things are going well. I've had some inquiries via e-mail about all metal and sensitivity and wanted to confirm my answer to them.
Thanks and good hunting, ArtWI

I wish they would have made the retune speed different between the push button all metal and the disc control click stop all metal on the Vaquero somewhat like on the Tejon where one is fast and the other slow. Better yet, it would have been nice if the pushbutton all metal pinpoint was a true non motion type. JMHO.
