Will my Vaquero find a 1/4 carat diamond stud ear ring that was recently lost? I have the stock coil on my Vaquero and I would think it would hit the ear ring but thought I'd ask here first......thanks.
I would think so if running in all metal. Hopefully you have the other earring to test with to see how far away it hits and how it sounds in all metal and also discriminate mode. Not sure where it was lost...hopefully not in a trashy area. That way you can run in all metal and get more sensitivity.
Thanks therover....I can test the other ear ring and the place it was lost is a pretty new house in the country so no metallic trash in the yard. My hunting buddy looked for it with his 1236 Fisher and when he tried the mate to the lost ear ring he never got a peep out of his detector and the pro pointer wouldn't beep on it either. I have my Vaquero and a CZ5 to use to try finding it. Which do you think would be the best?
Use the smallest coil you have on the detecter used (drag the coil on the ground), something that small will not be detected very deep - - - also when testing the mate ear stud, remove the retainer clip to give you a true idea if the MDer can get a hit on it.
If the area the idem was lost is small, sometimes raking the dirt aside, little by little can get the target closer to the coil so it will give a hit (we use that technick in prospecting tailings piles for missed small nuggets).
Good luck - - - HaRM
PS: new construction sites have alot of trash to - - roofing nails, staples, wiring ends, wire nuts. screws, bolts & nuts.
