2 Much Trash

Well-known member
I've been detecting (relic hunting) for over 30 years now, but never hunted with anyone using a Tesoro until a few days ago. He was using a Vaquero. At the end of the day I ask him how in the world did you do that? His response,

" No hype my boy, just meat and potatoes." I'm sold. No more a victim of marketing.

So how did he do?

It sounds as though another lost soul has saw the light. My guess is the Vaquero opened a can of whoop ass on his detector during the relic hunt. Doesn't surprise me.....the Vaquero rocks !

You're right on Joe Dirt. We were all hunting the same small area, crossing each others path constantly. Nothing out of the ordinary was found that day. It was a hard hunt. There were detectors there ranging from $400.00 to a $1000.
All I'm saying is that the fellow using the Vaquero dug twice as much lead and brass as the rest of us put together. Perhaps that was just that day, another day at a different area could be different., but who's to say. All I know is that Vaquero killed it and i'm gonna get one no matter what my wife says.

I will get a new tesoro soon too. welcome to the family

2 much trash, It wasn't a fluke that the Vaquero cleaned house on the lead and brass. Of course everyone has off days, but I'm betting your finds will double with the Vaquero. It is so smooth in the trash and sensitive to tiny metalic items deep. I have taken my Vaquero back to sites I have
pounded with other detectors and am pulling buffalo and v nickels out of these sites still. Welcome to the Tesoro family...lol. HH.....

Hey Willie - welcome.
I was in a position to own all the big guns over the past 2 years and my "V" soundly surpassed each one in areas like depth, stability, target resolution, sizing, discrimination, pin-pointing, even target ID! 2 years later all the big guns are gone - F75, DFX, Etrac, sold them all and now hunt exclusively with my "V". Forget cost and weight, I found this to be the best MD available on the market. One of the main reasons, I make the call to dig or not to dig now rather than some fancy display. I recently bought a Compadre and so far I'm impressed with it. Another hit from Tesoro.

Wow! I am in the market for a new detector right now and have been trying to decide between a new Vaquero and a Sovereign GT. Then I get home and read this thread! What to do...what to do!?

Hey TR - I own both the "V" and a GT. GT is a great MD but Target Resolution is very poor which makes sizing nearly impossible. But, it's very deep, has tone ID, and is killer in low, very low trash areas. If I had to sell my "V" or GT, I'd sell the GT despite some very good qualities. Just my personal thoughts based on experience with both. My GT doesn't get much use.

I have used the Vaq. for five years. Then purchased a Tejon. I have always said any brass, copper or lead. The machine will find it. Even digging it out of trash!

Hi Rooster, Good to have you here! OK, here are my thoughts for you to consider. Would it not be "more better" to buy a US Made detector? Fact also is that Tesoro has the "Proven" best Warranty (LIFETIME) and Service, of all the others, and has had since they started making detectors. That Warranty and Service covers any machine, new or used no matter how many owners, so long as it has a Tesoro decal on it and has not been modded. or abused. All usually totally free except for it's ship back to Tesoro. Also, the prices are more than fair. JMHO, but I know I would have no problem whatsoever deciding which to go with. Of course I admit I favor Tesoro, and am not the least interested in any thing other than a Tesoro, no matter how "this or how that",or whatever some other may be, simply because of the "above" reasons. HH, Charlie

That's what's you call the shock and awe effect, all Tesoro users have experienced before, no hype my boy just meat and potatoes!

Thanks Guys for all the responses to my post. Sorry for my late response but went on a 10 day cruise and when I got back all @#%$&^*) broke loose at work. Just haven't had the chance to read the forum. I'm really looking forward to getting the Vaquero. And I just want ole Joe to know that when my wife bumps me off, I'm gonna make sure that him getting my V is first on the list of my unfinished business.
