Vaquero & pull tabs question

what happens when to a pull tab as you raise the dsicrimination? do you get a broken signal or does it dissapear?
i was doing air test again and get a signal even with full Disc.

Thanks, Epi

I don't have a Vaquero but do have a Cibola, they should be similar.

What are the sensitivity and threshold settings when you do this test?

I am thinking that if both sensitivity and threshold are set high (super tuned) then you might click or crackle with the discriminator set to maximum and the tab close to the coil. You may also get some response if the ground balance is at a very negative setting (counter clockwise from centered).

If not set super tuned and the ground balance is mid-range, then I would think the tab would disappear at maximum discrimination.

Actually I feel you have a Disc. problem as most units will disc. out as high as Zinc penny and some even a dime unless you area has tabs on steroids
Perhaps a visit to a dealer or perhaps talking to a club member may help...

Thanks, for the replies guys. I'm going to try it again but i do think there is something wrong with Disc.
it's a used detector i hope tesoro will fix it and not charge to much.

Pulltabs? Ummmm, can't help you much there. I don't run my discriminator that high. I prefer to dig tabs as to eliminate them would also eliminate some of the very stuff I am hoping to find. In air tests I have eliminated pulltabs, but on my machine I have to go a bit higher that the setting marked pulltabs. If I just set it at pulltabs I get a broken or one way signal. OK? That's the best I can tell you. Actually running air tests in the comfort of your own home is the best way to learn the idiosyncrasies of the discriminator on your Vaquero. Good luck and happy hunting.

just bought a used Vaquero (One month old) and it descriminates pull tabs out.... but I'm with the post above mine .... I don't usually run my desc. anywhere near that high you'll lose what we are all looking for ... gold/silver jewelry.
Hope it's not your detector....

Jay
