this morning i took the detector out to a football field to find the little dropped treasures.gb'd okay set it on all metal and away i did go.approximately thirty minutes later the detector started acting up first turnig to disc to check out a target it started humming.no matter where i positioned the disc,humming and now crackling.lifted the coil well clear of the ground. no silent search now.turned it off.restarted it again in a.m.,now no silence.switching to disc,no difference ,still weird sounds .fresh battery twice.that's not the problem.clean inside the coil cover.turned it off again and unplugged my earphones,try it without.didn't help,no matter where i pointed it still hearing funny noisesand yes i did change the frequency switch several times.when i came home i tried it out again and it still had the same problem.so tomorrow i'll pack it up and send it back to the shop where igot it,hoping they can fix the problem.this is my favorite detector.i'm going to have withdrawal symtoms while it's gone. blowfly

It might have to go back to the US, Blowfly, but with jet planes and things, that wont take too long. Hope they find locate the problem quickly. Sapper

Same thing happened to me when I was in Costa Rica the first week of May. It was working great and the next day I turned it on and it sounded like I was detecting on top of a hydro pole. Did the same as you. New batteries, dried it out inside the condo, nothing worked. It just howls in every position and setting . Nothing wrong with the coil or wires.

I sent it back to Presott Az exactly two weeks ago. Hope to get it back soon. Their service is always 100%.

Today I ordered a new Tesoro DeLeon from Middlesex Detectors in Ontario. I just love my Tesoro's ....Nothing beats them for balance, weight and depth. I have been using another top machine for the past two weeks, but my plugs are almost twice as big and the pin pointing is off a couple of inches every time.

Hoping I enjoy the DeLeon as much as my Vaquaro and that I get it back soon.
