I have decided to get a Vaquero or Tejon,i want a detector thats gives me depth. It will be used on relics, coins and jewelry. How much depth would i get with the Vaquero? Which one would be better for me? Right now i use a bounty hunter,i get very little depth with it.

Can't tell you about the tejon, but I think the Vaq. is a good solid all around machine. The average depth seems to be about 5-8 inches(sens @ 5-7) but it does go deep, 10+ inches on a clad dime, bird shot at 6-8 " small iron relics at 10-12inches are not uncommon(sens @9). Deepest find was a 1" dia. x 17" iron bar at 26 inches. All depths were without running in boost mode. It does favor iron a bit. I use this machine for coin shooting in parks and at the beach(dry or wet sand) for coins and jewelry also. It very sensitive on small targets. It doesn't have a dual disc like the tejon, but I don't think thumbing the disc is a big hassle.

all around i think is the vaquero is better, will go deep and find that stuff plus 1 9 volt vs 8 AA batteries tejon is not bad but just a preference thing!

I've never had a Vaquero so I can't comment on it.

But I have the Tejon and can tell you it's an excellent and hot detector.

The Tejon is the Vaquero on steroids. It hits harder on coins and buttons, and having a higher frequency, it hits better on low conductive targets like gold. Its also more versatile having the dual Disc set up. It also has adjustable audio frequency, which will help people that have hearing issues. Set up and Ground Balanced correctly, the T is the deepest machine Tesoro has ever made.

I'll add 2 cents ... the larger accessory coils (the 12 x 10 and the 3.6 x 18 clean sweep) both balance much better on the Tejon than on the Cibola / Vaquero platform. On the Cibola and Vaquero the larger coils make the detector very nose heavy and thus more fatiguing than with those coils on the Tejon.

Hey Guy, Happy New Year.

Just want to comment on that question also. For highly mineralized soils with the Tejon. To find deeper coins, you have to lower your Disc.1 down to a little lower than foil. Remember, to much Disc, you loose depth on any machine! So keep it below foil. Next, 2 Disc. you will set it up where it cracks on Nickel. If you get a good and stable hit on Disc.1, in both directions, side to side, up and down, but a crackle on Disc.2, does not mean it's not clad of silver. high Disc. did not allow you to detect deeper coins in that soil. So, as a matter of fact, you just might have hit on either one or even gold! Remember you said it only finds quarters five inches deep. Now with the Dic. lowered, you goona get better depth. The deeper the coin you gonna loose depth at higher settings.
In this video, I had my Tejon set all the way up, but that's because I was using th 5.75 widescan. But I'll show some other vid's with me using the Tejon in lower settings with standard coil going deep on silver!

I can't speak for the Tejon, but the Vaq is a fine detector. Very stable with a full range of coil options. light-weight and runs on a single 9volt battery. Running disc, and sens at full throttle, I can air-test a merc dime at 10". It can achieve near the same through non-mineralized sand. It is easy to thumb the disc and use it to further identify objects. It is quiet in trash when the GB is set properly and sens isn't too high. Its a simple machine that packs a lot of punch and doesn't wear your arm out.
