Vaquero...nice little powerhouse

Went relic hunting today and a buddy of mine went along, learning detecting and enjoying it. I was using my F75 he was using the Vaquero. Had him check targets before I dug, and in every case, he got a good solid response on the vaquero on everything we checked. I was pretty impressed with that little machine! It can definitely hold it's own when running with the big boys! Go Tesoro!

I tested the "V" with a gold chain using the 8"x9" coil. It hit the chain up to 2". I than super tuned, Hit at about 4". It sure is a darn good detector. I love mine. I also got the 5.75 coil for it too... KEN

Have heard great things about the F75 I use the Vaquero as well and love it curious as to some of the targets responces you got with the fisher and what they were and what the Vaquero said they were how about some pics of those finds next time Thanks

Ken you use the concentric 5.75 or the widescan curiuous as I have the 5.75 widescan but have not used it yet going to use it next weekend in a competion hunt though on the Vaquero

Stop it , because now i want to get the V also ,, I know i just will stop reading all post about the Vaquero.

Heck, I got all kinds of Tesoro wants right now! You know the saying, "Want in one hand and crap in the other to see which one fills up the quickest". Well, I've got enough of the wants right now to go the other way! Lets see, Vaquero: want, Outlaw: want, Golden: want, Compadre: want. Can't really get any of them at the moment and even if I could, would not be able to decide which would suit me the best. I might have to take a break from the Tesoro forum for a bit altogether before all my wants outweigh my needs and land me in hot water!

I am very impressed with the Vaquero. It definitely had the power and the smarts to get the job done in the relic fields. I am quite certain it wil fare as well in the parks for coin and jewelry hunting. A very versatile machine, which is very capable of more than its price tag demands. I relic hunt in spring and fall but during the summer I hunt parks. I think I will be comfortable using the Vaquero to coin hunt as well as relic hunt. And know that it has the depth and the technology to do both.

Wouldn't your Golden uMax make a much better park hunter for the discriminating (no pun intended) detectorist? I suppose if you are a dig it all hunter after setting a certain level of discrimination then it doesn't matter but don't you ever get the twitch to have your Golden with you to help tell you what you might have under the coil or do you prefer a surprise in every plug?

Oh the Golden gets its share of time in the parks, but it never goes to the relic fields. I have found several rings with it and lots of nickels too as well as lots of clad.

This year it may collect a little bit of dust as I learn my etrac and the Vaquero. Having a great spring!

I hear ya John, have to put the time in to learn those new machines and I hear that Etrac will for sure take some time. If you feel that the Golden will get neglected then just send it my way and I'll put 'er to good use!:bouncy:

I love all of my tesoro's,but they are in the closet and the E trac is finding the silver.(just for now).
