Vaquero Mod (Maybe)

Posted this on another forum & thought that I would post it here also.

First off I want to say that I was torn between getting a Vaquero & a Golden uMax, I am getting the Vaquero and hope I made a wise choice. I have been reviewing alot and read a few posts about the Vaquero would be great if it had a switch such as on the Silver uMax to switch between all metal & disc. mode. Some folks say they keep the disc. set where they want it and hold the pinpoint button in then release the pinpoint button when they get a target to see if it discs. out. but I guess their thumb gets tired after awhile holding in the pinpoint button.

I was thinking why couldn't a person install a small single pole switch wired in parallel with the pinpoint button - that way you could switch it in one direction & that would put the Vaquero in all metal then switch it the other direction to change it quickly into disc. mode. Seems like it should work - I know this mod would probably void Tesoro's great warranty though. Just a thought! Thanks Steve.

You can "click" the Disc knob all the way counter clockwise, and that puts the V in a full time all metal mode, if you choose to hunt that way.

You can also set your dis where you want, then hold down your pinpoint button that puts it in all metal But your thumb may get tired.
