Vaquero lake hunt

Took the Vaq. to a lake today hoping to find some gold. No such luck but I did find some silver that really surprised me. The Merc. dime and war nickel were found in the same hole on the swimming area beach. The lake was built in the late 30's but I know there has been hundreds of detectors go over that area. It's amazing what items can be missed.
Also, in one of the pics is three coins, a nickel, quarter and penney. These coins are paper thin, not sure what caused it though, because all the other coins are in fairly good shape.

Silver just holds up better than clad and regular nickels do. There's probably a lot of alkaline in the soil.

That sure is a nice looking mercury dime and war nickel.

Not sure, but I think copper was mixed with the silver. Being buried on the beach all those years may have had something to do with it, but I'm like you, I've never seen one.

I would not want to swim in that water you might get pickled like those coins , must be a volcanic vent in the lake Good finds
