vaquero interference

parfind

New member
When I hunt with a guy who uses an MXT, my vaquero totally drives him crazy. I can't get within 15 feet of him. I get no interference at all from him. I have changed frequencies with no help at all. What's going on here anyway? Ist his machine or mine causing the problem?

It could be your machine. It could be his machine. Probable a combination of both. Better his acting up than yours. I doubt if you ever find out who is to blame. Sorry that this doesn't help any but interference has a lot to do with filters, harmonics, strength of electromatic fields and a lot of other stuff.

I hunt with a guy that has a mxt and I'm using a vaq, we only interfere when we get within 3-4" of each other. One thing to check is the grounding for the coil wire shield. I can't tell you if it grounds through the connector body or through one of the pins. If you can't get a schematic maybe some of the mod guys on the board would know.

Parfind, it's all about "frequency clash", they're both 14 kHz.
But I'm not sure why his is more affected than yours.
Perhaps the Vaquero has a stronger output or it's receive
circuit has a better resistance to outside interference.
But mainly, it's simply two alike frequencies. It happens
with any two detectors with like frequencies, which is why
freq. switches are made for contest hunts amongst many other
detectors. Apparently the other freq's on the Vaq. are not
different enough from the MXT's. You might also consider
calling Tesoro and asking to speak to an engineer about it
just for curiosity's sake. And if you get an answer please
let us all know it by posting here, OK?
